Wearable art

WALT: Write a recount or WALT: write a description

“Today we are doing a wearable challenge” said Mr Roy,”YAY” shouted the class. We had to get in groups of 2,3 or 4. I was with Christine and Fine,We had to choose our model and me and Christine chose Fine to be our model. So the people that wasn’t chosen had to be the judges. The materials we used were newspaper, sellotape and string. We are going to make a dress for fine “start” said Mr Roy.

As we all ran to get our equipment that was provided.”Fine stand up I’m going to measure you” I said. I started to put the newspaper around Fine and Christine was making the scarf and the hat. I taped fine around and around. After that our costume was finished I really liked our one because it was colourful and pretty. The rest were amazing, I had a funny and great day.

Recount - Bridge Technology Challenge

Suddenly, Mr Roy came into the classroom and said  “Now Room 6, come and sit on the mat! We are going to do another technology challenge” I felt really interested and excited.

He said the rules are that the bridge must be able to be lifted from the chairs and not touch the ground. It must be made only of materials supplied.Team members must not support the bridge in any way during judging. The weight will be placed on the bridge by the judge. Then we had to get into groups of three, I was with Christine and Fine (My friends).

“Start!” yelled Mr Roy as we ran with our supplies. I had an idea, so I told my teammates but they were confused. So I told them just cut some sellotape and newspaper. When they saw what I was doing then they got the idea. We made our bridge then we were nearly finished. I was so proud of what we did and then it was time for Mr Roy to judge. I was nervous he came to ours and we achieved I felt really phenomenal because we had the longest bridge.

               My Boomerang

This is my boomerang that I created and designed.I call it
boomerang.

My boomerang is the shape of an L because it’s like the
traditional boomerangs. For my boomerang I used cardboard,
tape and paper.

I decorated my boomerang with some tongan patterns and
lots of other things.

All about me

This presentation is about me.

Teachnology challenge

Technology challenge
“Room 6 we are doing an Technology challenge” Mr Roy said.
The Technology challenge was we had to make a flag and make
it stand by only using paper and tape. The rules were you can’t
put tape on the ground and you can’t use stuff to make it stand
except paper and tape.So we had to get in groups of three or
four,I was with Lino and Mariah.First Mr Roy gave us a A3
paper to decorate for our flag. When we were finished we had
to get your pole. After you finished decorating the paper we
got our pole and tried to make the pole stand. My group got
the paper and wrapped it around the pole but it didn’t work.
So since Mr Roy said we can’t put tape on the floor,we got
two papers and put it under the wrapped paper and taped it
to the paper. Mr Roy came around to look at the flags and
judged it all of the groups did an success. It was really fun.

Chang-o and the moon

Chang-O and the moon

Part one Hou yi and birds

Once upon a time there were ten sun birds
that stayed in a volcano. Each day one of  the
sun birds will fly up into the sky and fly around
the world, bringing heat and light to Earth.
But one day all the sun birds decided to go
on the same day.so when the sun birds are
in the sky, the Earth’s temperature goes ten
times hotter than what it usually is. The
rivers, sea dried up which means it will have
a drought,animals and crops died.
Something had to be done very quickly.
The empromer sent an young man to stop t
he sun birds fro making the earth hotter but
left one, so they can still keep the earth warm.

Earthquake words

What is a global warming

           What is a global warming?

Global warming is the warming of the Earth.
There’s an atmosphere that is surrounding the
Earth and it is made out of lots of gases like
Methane, helium, hydrogen, oxygen, carbon
dioxide and many other kinds.

Recently, The Earth is getting warmer because
the temperature has risen. But what is making
the temperature rise? The  extreme hot
weather has risen because of the the level of
Carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. So that
means the Carbon dioxide and the greenhouse
effect has increased. Carbon dioxide is
responsible for trapping heat from the sun.
If there is more carbon dioxide in the
atmosphere, more of the sun’s heat will be
trapped. This will make the Earth extremely hot.

When there will be an extremely hot weather
the Glaciers will melt, there will be heatwaves
and level of the sea will rise because the
Glaciers melt and also the animals will lose
their habitat.

On land we will experience heatwaves and
wildfires. Wildfires will cause more smoke
and more
carbon dioxide creating global warming.

To slow down that process we will need to grow
the trees because the trees will absorb the
carbon dioxide and helping cooling the Earth.

What is Greenhouse effect

What is Greenhouse effect?

A greenhouse effect is a phenomenon that
traps the Sun’s heat on Earth.The Earth’s
atmosphere has gases like carbon dioxide and
methane. Recently the level of carbon dioxide
and the greenhouse has increased hugely. The
temperature has risen on Earth causing the
glaciers to melt and the heatwave’s making
wildfires. When that happens the animals lose
their habitat and people lose their environment
.That's why people grow trees because trees
absorb the Carbon dioxide.

what causes an Earthquake

When there is an Earthquake there’s a reason. The Earthquake
happens because of the tectonic plates and tectonic plates are
all over the world. The tectonic plates look like jigsaw pieces .
There’s a rock that is inside the underground it is known as a
molten rock. When the magma rises up to the molten rock the
molten rock puts  pressure on the tectonic plate and so when
the molten rock puts pressure on the tectonic plates the tectonic
plates moves and when that happens it causes epicentres to
originate Earthquakes. When the magnitude is over six then it
would be very strong and if it is under six then it would be not
strong. But it is also about the depth.

Earthquake

   Earthquakes

In a Earthquake there's a lot of loss to property and life.
There are lots of buildings and houses that collapse during an
Earthquake. To reconstruct the city it would cost millions of
dollars. All the people that survived have to stay in a camp
together for months. There is scarcity of food and water.
The pipes that bring water may break because the movement
of Earth so then we will have no water. If the magnitude is over
six then there might be a risk of a Tsunami. Some of the people
that survived would’ve be seriously injured and many people
may lose their love ones and it would be very sad.

Survey on how much people are aware of Matariki.

                        Survey
Today we went out to Pakuranga mall and surveyed 20 people. We asked them if they knew what Matariki is? Fourteen didn’t know what matariki was and six knew about it. We asked people from diffrent cultrues but all lived in New zealand. It shows us that many people didn’t know what Matariki is even though they live New Zealand. So we should put Matariki on the calender, decorte the malls, rely on the radio and make people more aware about it.

   About the sun
At the centre of the solar system there is a burning ball of gas
known as the sun.It has two main gases called helium and
hydrogen atoms. Helium atoms attract together to produce
heat, light and radiation. The sun has an tremendous
gravitational pull to hold all the planets instead of them
drifting into space. Actually the sun is a star just very very
closer to Earth. The heat and light produced from helium atoms
is important for life to survive on Earth.Without the sun there
would be no light,no heat and no plants will grow.

Space

                                      Space
Space is everywhere. In space it is pitch black which means
there is darkness everywhere. We do not know where space
ends which means space is infinite.Space consists of
meteors,asteroids and shooting stars.There is a possibility
that there are other sun’s and solar system.scientists are
unaware of many other facts about space. There must
be other creatures existence like aliens in other solar
system.Light can travel through space but sound cannot.
There is no oxygen in space so astronauts have to wear
oxygen masks.Earth has light from the sun because it can
reach Earth.
